Live At Birdland is undisputedly John Coltrane's most delicate all-round album with fantastic versions of "Afro-Blue" and "I Want To Talk About You". And although the name suggests it is a live album, in fact only three of the five tracks were recorded at the legendary Jazz club in New York. The other two studio recordings are at the same high standard that we're used to from Coltrane. With Jimmy Garrison on the double bass, Elvin Jones on the drums, McCoy Tyner on piano and Rudy van Gelder as the sound engineer, Live At Birdland is a classic that should not be overlooked!
